Odemwingie leads West Brom over Southampton 2-0

BIRMINGHAM, England (AP) - Peter Odemwingie scored twice to give West Bromwich Albion a 2-0 win over last-place Southampton in the Premier League on Monday night, lifting his team into fifth place and increasing pressure on Saints manager Nigel Adkins.

Southampton has lost five straight road games and allowed 28 goals in 10 league matches.

Odemwingie scored in the 36th minute with a left-footed shot that took a deflection off Maya Yoshida and past goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga, then headed in Shane Long's long cross in the 60th.

MADRID (AP) - Benat Etxebarria scored a tiebreaking goal on a free kick in the 74th minute, and Real Betis went on to a 4-2 win at Getafe that moved it into fourth place in the Spanish league.

Jorge Molina put Betis ahead in the 59th, but Diego Castro tied the score 10 minutes later.

After Betis went back ahead, Ruben Castro gave the visitors a 3-1 lead in the 76th.

Leon scored for Getafe in the 90th and Salva Sevilla for Sevilla in the third minute of injury time.
