Sprinkle for iPhone and iPad review: Fight fires and save villages but don't run out of water first!

Sprinkle for iPhone and iPad review: Fight fires and save villages but don't run out of water first!

Sprinkle for iPhone and iPad is a great casual puzzler in which you'll control a water cannon in order to distinguish fires and save villages. The trick is that you've only got so much water and obstacles stand in the way of you and several fires. You'll have to use the water in order to move objects out of the way or cascade water on top of them in order to splash it up where you need it.

Sprinkle takes place on Titan, a moon of Saturn. Its inhabitants all live in straw houses and when space tourists crash through Saturn's rings, it sends asteroids crashing into Titan, setting blazing fires. The Titan dwellers built a huge water cannon in order to fight the flames. That's where you come in.

In order to play Sprinkle you'll use the water cannon the Titans built to extinguish all the fires. You can move your cannon up and down by tapping and dragging it or drag your finger up and down anywhere on the screen to adjust the angle in which water comes out. As you progress through the levels of Sprinkle, you'll notice that the difficulty level of extinguishing fires increases. You'll have to activate switches, move objects out of the way with a stream of water, and even use them in order to gain leverage and bounce water off of them to where you need it to be.

You only have a certain amount of water in each level in order to complete it so you'll have to use it sparingly and make sure that you're getting it where it needs to be. If you run out of water, you'll fail the level and have to start over again.

The good

  • Great water physics that is not only realistic, but will keep you challenged throughout several of the harder levels
  • Cute characters and an even cuter story line
  • Easy game play controls makes Sprinkle fun for kids and even big kids of all ages

The bad

  • No complaints

The bottom line

Sprinkle is an insanely fun and even cuter casual game that will keep the kids, or yourself, busy combatting fires for hours. If you are a fan of games like Where's My Mickey?, Sprinkle will be right up your alley.

Bing Maps Has Revealed Russia's Secret Stealth Fighter Jet

Bing Maps Has Revealed Russia's Secret Stealth Fighter Jet

Bing Maps is apparently really great at one thing: revealing top secret military information. After capturing a top secret military base, Bing has now caught a stealth Russian airplane that's been shrouded in mystery. The Bing Maps image above shows Russia's MIG Project 1.44, Russia's first attempt at building a stealth fighter jet. A jet that Russia might have sent to China to kick start China's stealth program. A jet that was supposed to be Russia's answer for the F-22 Raptor.

According to Foreign Policy, the 1.44 plane (it's the bigger plane in that image above) was designed with "stealth-like angles, an internal weapons bay and supposedly used electronic countermeasures and special coatings to help reduce its radar signature." The goal was to make the plane highly maneuverable and really, really fast. However, the 1.44 plane was supposedly shelved by Russia in 2001 and thrown in storage. The Bing Maps image shows that that's not exactly the case.

What's interesting is that China's J-20 stealth fighter (revealed in 2010) looks a lot like the Russia 1.44 plane. MiG denied ever giving 1.44 plans to China but a Russian official did say, "it looks like they got access...to documents related to the Mikoyan." If the plane is out of storage, maybe Russia has been sharing a little secrets here and there. [Foreign Policy]

Okay, we're day a late, but we're not $50 dollars short since Richard avoided the World War Z 'Mega Ticket.' That much and only a small popcorn? No, thanks. Despite seeing the movie twice for regular price, however, Ben is still convinced that Richard's the guy who hates every movie and loves every TV show. We'll let you decide by tuning to this week's episode of the Engadget Podcast below.

TKTS offers theatergoers a chance to skip lines

NEW YORK (AP) ? Times Square's iconic TKTS booth is celebrating its 40th birthday by introducing a new way for theater lovers to avoid lines.

The Theatre Development Fund, the nonprofit that runs the booth selling discount Broadway and off-Broadway tickets, announced Wednesday a Fast Pass program which allows anyone who has bought a ticket from the booth to return within seven days and skip the wait when they buy another ticket.

Interested patrons must bring a ticket stub that proves they've bought a TKTS ticket within seven days and they'll be ushered through to the booth's first window, which is reserved for full-price tickets to future performances and is usually not as busy as the other windows handling discounted tickets.
