ISLAMABAD -- An?avalanche buried about 130 Pakistani soldiers near the Siachen glacier on the border with India, officials told NBC News on Saturday. A rescue operation was under way.
The fate of the soldiers was unclear.
Thousands of Pakistani and Indian troops are based in the area, a security official told The Associated Press. The official said?snow engulfed a battalion headquarters in Gayari district.
Siachen is on the northern tip of the divided Kashmir region claimed by both India and Pakistan.
